“Master of Mechanical Engineering of Swiss German University is committed to support the application of Industrie 4.0 in Indonesia. We recognize the need of mechatronics program in the education system so the graduates will be able to implement automations in the industry to pursue smart factory. We also recognize the need of Engineering Management program so the graduates will improve their management skill and ready to support and implement the concept of industrie 4.0.

Mechatronics is a multi-disciplinary study dealing with the integration of mechanical devices, actuators, sensors, electronics, intelligent controllers and computers. Many new generations of consumer or commercial products can be classified as mechatronic products as they involve mechanical as well as electronic components. The need for mechatronic education has grown due to the increase in the number and importance of such systems and devices.

Engineering Management is dealing with designing, improving, optimizing, operating and managing multilevel integrated systems of technology, business and organization in the industry in order to improve the system performance, quality, products and service innovations. Management level in the industry should be knowledgeable in this area of expertise and will be able to support the implementation of Industry 4.0 in integrated system aspect.

What You Study

Mechatronics

The aim is to educate engineers and engineering managers with competencies in mechanics, electronics and software including the interplay between the technologies. The study programme qualifies the graduate engineer to carry out, participate in, or lead the development of mechatronic products.
Some learning outcomes of Mechatronic MME program are:

•    The ability to design and calculate mechanical designs and electronic circuits.
•    The ability to develop software for intelligent industrial processes.
•    The ability to apply technological knowledge and theories for the development of new
•    products independently and as a team.
•    The potential to become a project manager of product development.
•    Knowledge of the highest level of research at a scientific level.

Engineering Management

The aim is to produce personel with engineering and management competencies who are expert in engineering and innovation with managerial and entrepreneurial skills. The study program qualifies the graduate engineer to lead the innovations and process improvements at executive positions or as entrepreneur.
Some learning outcomes of Engineering Management MME program are:

•    The ability to identify and formulate complex engineering problems and developing the solver by applying state-of-the-art principles of engineering, science, mathematics and management.
•    The ability to develop and apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of innovation, quality, performance and sustainability, as well associal, environmental and economical factors.
•    The ability to develop and conduct appropriate scientific research, analysis, data interpretation, engineering and managerial judgements to draw conclusions.
•    Organizational skills including an ability to manage time effectively, keep track of many employees, prioritize tasks and schedules, plan resources and budgets accurately.
•    Interpersonal and entrepreneurial skills supported by the ability in managing innovation of product, service and process for organizational competitiveness.

A mechatronic engineer is a problem solver by nature. Mechatronic engineering skills are in demand by both national and international companies who require personnel with mechatronics expertise to help to ensure that the products they manufacture are up-to-date and can be produced economically.

Mechatronics engineers design or select sensors and actuators, develop control algorithms and use or develop advanced functional materials for the design of mechanical systems such as chassis stabilising systems, anti-lock brakes, engine control units, disk drives, cameras, service and surgical robots and artificial hearts.

Mechatronics engineering has become an internationally recognised discipline with degree programmes offered in Japan, the United States of America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. There are many opportunities for mechatronics graduates.
